The Developmental Preschool program is built around a play curriculum
that focuses on the child as an active participant in the learning process,
The teachers act as facilitators of this process, designing a safe and
developmentally appropriate classroom environment to help the
children develop as unique individuals at their own pace. The children
are treated sensitively and respectfully as they strive to master difficult
developmental tasks, such as separation, control, independence and
conflict resolution. Parents are supported and encouraged to be active
partners in the preschool program.
Serving 3 to 5 year old children in two separate classrooms, the
preschool program is half day, Monday through Thursday with morning
and afternoon sessions available. The preschool operates on a school
year calendar September through May. Both classrooms are staffed with
2 teachers with no more than 14 children in each half-day group.
Teachers have college degrees in Early Childhood or Child Development.
Our Developmental Preschool program is licensed by the Department of
Public Welfare, accredited by the National Association for the Education
of Young Children (NAEYC), and a Pennsylvania Keystone Star 4 Facility.
